Our Story: The Heart of Creole Cuisine

Discover the passion and tradition that makes The Gilded Spoon a New Orleans dining destination.

The Gilded Spoon: A Legacy of Flavor

The Gilded Spoon isn't just a restaurant; it's a culmination of a lifelong dream, a tribute to the rich culinary traditions of New Orleans, and a testament to the power of family and community. Founded in 2015 by the visionary Chef Antoine Dubois and his wife, Isabelle, The Gilded Spoon quickly rose to prominence as a beacon of authentic Creole cuisine within the historic French Quarter. Their story began long before the restaurant’s inception, rooted in generations of Louisiana cooks and a shared desire to bring the flavors of their heritage to a wider audience.

Antoine, a New Orleans native, inherited his culinary prowess from his grandmother, Mama Odette, a legendary cook known throughout the city for her unparalleled gumbo and jambalaya. He spent his childhood by her side, learning the secrets of Creole cooking: the precise blend of spices, the importance of fresh, local ingredients, and the art of creating dishes that nourished not just the body but also the soul. Isabelle, with her keen eye for detail and impeccable hospitality, ensured that the dining experience at The Gilded Spoon was seamless and memorable, making every guest feel like a cherished member of their family.

The initial vision for The Gilded Spoon was simple: to create a space where people could gather and enjoy genuine Creole cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Antoine and Isabelle meticulously renovated a historic building on Rue Dauphine, preserving its original charm while adding touches of modern elegance. The exposed brick walls, antique chandeliers, and plush velvet seating created a romantic and inviting ambiance, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. They wanted a place that spoke of the past but embraced the future, a place where the tradition of Creole cooking could thrive and evolve.
